Grocery retail is high volume and low margin. The two things that decide the month are how fast one bill can be printed and whether the right stock is on the shelf.
The MRP printed on a carton changes between batches; the barcode does not. Stock is tracked batch by batch, so each batch carries its own MRP and the counter bills at the right one instead of the last one entered.
Not everything belongs in inventory. An item can be billed straight at the counter with no purchase entry behind it, and without the system trying to hold a stock level for it.
The weight comes off the scale straight into the bill, and a second or pole display shows the customer each line as it is added. Standard hardware, not proprietary equipment.
